Hello John Wesley members and friends,
I wanted to share my thoughts on Romans 6:12-14 with you. It is an unpleasant fact that sin exists, many people like to pretend it doesn’t and their actions don’t fall into that category. But the truth of the matter is that sin exists, and because it exists, the world is in the terrible state that it is in. Because sin exists, humanity is separated from the will, peace, and purpose of God. But God knows our inability to cast off sin and to live sin-free lives so God gifted humanity with a large dose of grace. Sure, we had the direction provided by the Law but in spite of the ancient Israelites’ best efforts, no one then, or since could live a sin-free life. And because we couldn’t live sin-free, God had to bless us with grace to cover us and sustain us. What a tremendous gifts! Rejoice that God has gifted you so, and do not live as though sin is your master, but live as though God’s grace has set you free from sin’s reign in your life.
