Hello John Wesley members and friends,
On this Thanksgiving eve, I'm thinking about my church family and I'm wishing you a holiday filled with joy and peace as you give thanks for all that God through Christ Jesus has blessed you with.
I wanted to share my thoughts on the following scripture, Romans 8:33-39. It may seem like a strange scripture to thinking about on Thanksgiving eve, but it sums up the debt we owe our Lord, and for that I am truly grateful. God chose us, we don't deserve this special honor, yet it was granted to us because of God's character. Think about the truth of what occurred, God selected us, we who deserve God's condemnation instead received God's mercy. Let nothing separate you from the love of Christ Jesus who died and was raised to life by God. To be a Christian means that you will face hardships and trouble, maybe even death but don't even let any of that rob you of the blessed peace and joy that you have in Christ. Whatever the Enemy sends your way in the present or future, hold on to the One who either carries or holds you, God knows your need and will allow that to dictate God's intervention. Finally, I pray that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus who loves you and gave His life for you. These are indeed reasons to be thankful!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Pastor Woods-Barrant
